Ditto
FREE/PAIDIn 2023, former Berkeley students Allen Wang and Eric Liu launched Ditto AI- a dating app that’s quickly changing how college students look for date. Instead of swiping endlessly or making small talk that leads nowhere, Ditto AI uses artificial intelligence to streamline the process, setting up real-world dates based on users’ actual preferences. What sets it apart? The AI starts working before you even create an account. The idea isn’t entirely out of thin air—the founders took inspiration from the Black Mirror episode “Hang the DJ,” where a system runs thousands of simulated relationships to find the perfect match. On Ditto, you build a profile and let the backend do the heavy lifting. The AI runs simulations to figure out who’s likely the best fit, picks a time and place, and even offers helpful conversation prompts to ease any first-date jitters.
Right now, the app has around 10,000 users, with about 20% of University of San Diego students already onboard. And that’s just the beginning—the team’s aiming to expand to hundreds of campuses nationwide.
